Cathy's Profile
My name is Cathy, and my dream is...
About Cathy
I was born in Snow Lake in Northern Manitoba but have lived all across Canada from Halifax to Vancouver.
I'm a social worker and I've always had a deep interest in people and what makes us tick, how we operate in relationships and the many ways we choose to live our lives. Injustice bothers me and I tend to always root for the underdog.
I'm in my fifties now and in many ways I think this decade is my favourite so far. I am especially enjoying the chance to explore my creative side by being involved in The Dog and Pony Show and hanging out with Darold.
Interests
My kids and my Granddaughter are some of my favourite people to spend time with. I also love books, going to live theatre or movies, lattes and great conversation. Anything that brings laughter into my life interests me. I enjoy nature, campfires, biking, tennis and travel especially anywhere by the water.

Just a thought
I find that I often put off doing the things that would help me to further my passions. In my head there are a hundred reasons I can dredge up for not moving ahead. I’m too old, it takes too much time, I don’t have the discipline…
I heard a story the other day and I was thinking about how it would be a good guideline to get past the excuses and follow my dreams.
Unblocking creativity
I’ve been taking a great course at the Writer’s Ctre based on the book by Julia Cameron called “The Artist’s Way”. The idea is to do various things and try different tools that will help to open up creativity. There are 6 women taking the course and we’re really enjoying hearing each other’s perspectives. Darold and I are both doing what Cameron calls “morning pages” - 3 handwritten, private pages (of whatever comes to mind) that you do first thing in the morning before you have a chance to think about or get going on anything else.
